#NYFW SS15 TREND: A Laced Agenda

With spring and summer we always look forward to windy days to send dresses into a swirling frenzy.

A lot of designers have created beautiful lace pieces that are perfect for those spring picnics and summer festivals. The great thing about lace in S/S is it’s uncanny ability to capture the tone of those seasons.

Within the Laced Agenda trend we can spot others like boudoir and muted pastels. Laced Agenda is more of a blanket trend that unfolds into many other smaller trends.

Lets take a look at some designers who have participated in the trend.

Honor’s collection was more of a candy coated dream with it’s play on candy buttons and oversized lace motifs. Many of the pieces were playful while staying sophisticated, perfect for the girl next door.

Zimmerman’s SS 15 collection is nothing short of breath taking. It is definitely a modern and romantic take on lace with it’s pastels, metallics, and draping. The barley there coverage juxtaposed with vests and blazers really make this collection seem very versatile and it definitely fits the boudoir trend. I can see these pieces being worn to a picnic, festival, gallery opening, and the bedroom. Top notch collection.

Rebecca Taylor’s collection seems to be the most practical and realized collection. It utilizes separates and silhouettes that an everyday woman can wear. The collection is soft and romantic with dresses, skirts, and blouses. Even the harder pieces, like the jacket to the right, have small lace detailing; the soft never giving into the hard but coinciding.

Rodarte’s laced illusion pieces are definitely the most rebellious and edgy of this particular group. They take the trend and make it darker, turning the trend on it’s head. With they’re staggered layering, frosted metallics, and large applique, this collection is definitely for the risk taker.

Well Till next time,

money really does buy happiness. If I had money I wouldn’t be home on a friday night and i’d have my rag and bone weekender.
